The Gherkin

Good morning friends,

I'm up very early this morning as I want to curl my hair to work. You see I'm invited for a coffee at the top of Gherkin today by one of our vendors, and a change of scenery requires a change of hairstyle!

In terms of clothes I'm very undecided , the weather looks a bit dodgy at 6:30am you can never guess how it will turn out, but in the end I'm going with a navy/grey stripy figure hugging number from Ted Baker with the navy Zara jacket I wore last week ( hey, a girl's got to recycle). For shoes I'm going with my gorgeous Gucci platform courts, sleek.

I definitely belong in the skies...

Let me know what you think.

Exhausted

Good evening everyone,

It has been one hell of a day at work today. I was so busy, the first time I managed to look at my watch it was 4pm!! I just got back home, had half a pizza and finally sat down in front of my laptop to share what I wore to work today. Too many hours too late!

So, not much to report on the day; but on  the clothes front I wore this blue dress I bought at a designer collection sale, it doesn't even have a brand, the only thing I know is its made in Australia. Now, don't be fooled by how big the actual dress looks - and don't even think I'm a huge person - I'm actually a US size 00. The trick is to tie the dress with a sash and check out the effect it creates at the back of the dress. I know I said I wasn't going to wear black, but I think this sort of blue goes so well with black, I couldn't resist teaming the dress with a simple Mango cardigan and my classic Louboutins.

Let me know what you think.

P.S: Note to self - never eat a pizza after 8pm in the evening, my poor stomach is not used to this abuse, arrgh :(

X-Factor!

Oh my! I've started this blog only last week and I've already slacked after 3 days, not sharing anything on Thursday and Friday. Not good!! Especially when I was wearing a killer blue/green wrap dress from BCBG Max Azria!! Not to worry though; I will be wearing the same dress again I'm sure, so I'll share it another time. Moving onto today swiftly; I'm sad (!, continue reading please) to say I'm working on a Saturday again.
Being in sales  my client relationships are really important and we bond with clients not just at office hours but at different events and organisations. My company has a corporate box at the O2 and we do client events from time to time. So today is one of those days where I'm taking some clients to the X-Factor show. Tough life this is, I'm definitely not a sucker for trash TV(!) and X-Factor is definintely not (!) my guilty pleasure in life and I haven't volunteered to this event at all! Well, as I cheer for my favourites on the show tonight; that is Amelia Lily and Misha B., I shall remember how lucky I am to get to do such things as a courtesy of my job. I love my job.
But another dilemma hovers in my head, what am I going to wear?? It's a concert on a Saturday, so if I was going on my own I would be wearing just t-shirt, jeans and trainers! You can't do this when there are clients are present and you're in Box. So, I decide to stick to the relaxed concept but update the look with high heels and a jacket to make it more smart casual.
What I have on here is a Zadig & Voltaire (from the kids section!!) long sleeve white cotton top, Rag & Bone skinnies finished with a Zara jacket, that looks like suede but it's not :), and the most amazing boots I've ever owned by the creative Rupert Sanderson.
Let me know what you think.
Oh, and from now on you can also follow me on Twitter @workozholic.

Until the next post,

Back to work

A very early morning to all.

It's 6:30 am as I'm typing these words. It is also my first day back at work after being absent for four days so I need to make a good impression!

As part of my new colour scheme, I have chosen a blue Asos dress this time  (again bought last week; jesus did I have any clothes before last week??) which I will wear with another navy Zara jacket. I'm keeping the shoes simple again; white snake effect courts. Finishing the outfit is my Never Full LV carry on with the D&G aviators.

Siri says it will be 21 degrees tomorrow, hurray, it will also be the first day that I skip tights/stockings for work since last summer, so exciting!!

Let me know what you think.

Client Lunch

Good morning everyone!

I'm still at home :(

You'll start to think what's work-a-holic about this girl, she is sitting at home blabbing away on her blog everyday, but I promise as soon as I'm healthy and back to work, you'll be surprised how neat and short the posts will become;  you'll be missing my words of wisdom :)

Actually today I'm not at all NOT working, I have to venture outdoors to attend a client lunch that I have booked two weeks ago. So dressing up today, PJs off!!

Normally I would organise lunches near our office, however this client is based in the West End and I also took advantage of the weather being absolutely fabulous in London - and booked the Babylon @ Kensington Roof Gardens. The choice of venue has nothing to do with the fact that it's 10 min taxi ride from my flat!

Venturing into my wardrobe, I am picking up the first colourful thing that catches my eye, an Asos pinkish knit dress that I've bought last Friday in death-bed. I'm teaming it up with a navy Zara jacket, check the gold buttons matching on both pieces. I'm perfectly aware that mixing and clashing is the order of this spring, but after all this is investment banking you can't look like Nicki Minaj on a client lunch! So the watch and the bag has to be coordinated; all in gold tones. Completing the look is a pair of classic two tone court shoes with retro Dior brown sunglasses.

Here are all the items individually and the finished look on me. Let me know what you think.

I'm off to lunch now! Bbfn.

Off work sick...

I was off work today as I'm still not well.
Definition of being "off work": I got up at 7 am, logged into work PC remotely from bed, checked e-mails, read a little about markets, joined the Monday team meeting on BB at 7:30am, followed up issues and queries with clients on Bloomberg Anywhere and pretty much answered every client e-mail that dropped in my inbox even though my out of office assistance read the message "I will not be checking e-mails regularly". So a regular day in a work-a-holic's life then.
Around 5pm I realised...Hey I set up a blog yesterday I should post something! (I will need to get used to this.). The problem is I was in PJs all day, not really a fashion statement to make here...and then voila it hit me. Since this is a new blog let's start by sharing what we're working with here a.k.a da wardrobe:
This is my little dingy walk in wardrobe, so full of stuff that I don't exacly know what's in there. My chest of drawers is a similar sight. Main colour scheme black. Such a cliche for a banker.

Jewellery upon jewellery, but what do I wear to work everyday, my engagement ring and wedding band only..

Last but not least is my shoe gallery. This is what I'm most proud of. All beautiful, colourful, exotic shoes stacked in clear boxes aching for me to wear them.  Yet I wear the same black shoe everyday without hesitation and this has to stop!

Tomorrow is when it all begins, the day I stop wearing the same LBD with the same grey jumper (it's Prada, but it's still grey!). Tomorrow the real effort starts.

A new beginning

Who would have thought that ME - a dedicated employee of a big investment bank- so dedicated that she works long hours, has her lunch at the desk glued to her four screen PC, addicted to her BB so much so she answers her emails from Maldives on her honeymoon (!)...in short a work-a-holic; would one day be bound to bed after a small operation and get sooo bored (after crunching many hours on her BB) she decides to create a blog. A blog to share her second passion after her job: fashion, clothes, accessories, make up. It's the things that keeps her sane and interested in a very busy world.

I am Work-OZ-Holic and I will post my daily stabs at fashion in the Investment Banking environment, hopefully it will give you ideas. I will most and foremost try to answer the hardest question us girls face each morning as we spring from our beds at 5:30am:  "What to Wear to Work Today?".

Welcome to my new Blog!

Please leave comments so that I can make this blog better.

PS: For those of you who are wondering how I will find the time to write a daily blog and do my job at the same time, I should say I'm extremely organised, it's kind of necessary in my line of work!

Until tomorrow,

Work-Oz-Holic xx
